Marseille - Docking

There are several berthing options in the large city which stretches for several miles around the coast.

The Vieux Port is to the south of the commercial docks and the Ports de ‘Estaque are located in the un-used docks to the north.

When entering the Vieux Port, beware of the ferries; they charge in and out at high speed, taking no account of yachts moving about. It is a very sheltered harbor, although rather noisy. The pontoons on the southern side of the harbor run by Cercle Nautique et Touristique du Lacydon (CNTL) are recommended.

At L’Estaque, some 4 miles north of the Vieux Port, there are several yacht clubs administration the four yacht basins located in the old commercial docks. The basin at the southern end, run by S.N.E.M, is where visitors berth. Turn immediately to port on passing through the outer breakwater and it is the 2nd entrance to the port.

There is also a large marina on the Ile du Frioul, 2nm west of the entrance channel to the Vieux Port. A useful map of this port area.

South of the city, is the large marina at La Pointe Rouge. It is a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the city but is still convenient to visit. This is the most useful place if hauling out and doing repairs.

As expected, all services and businesses are available in Marseille.

    Data Entry2 says:

Port l’Estaque. 12 Sept 16. I would treat this marina with caution, it is very shallow towards the southeastern section. Definitely ring ahead, but not on the weekend as they don’t appear to be open.
