For those interested in WW2 history, there are two museums 'Musée du Mur de l'Atlantique' and 'Musée du Débarquement n° 4 Commando' (covering the D Day landings).

Other historical buildings include Château de Caen, Abbaye aux Hommes, Abbaye aux Dames, and Saint Étienne abbey-church, where a slab marks the tomb of William the Conqueror.
