Rochefort is approached via the River Charente. A naval rural river winding its way the 12 miles to the historic port. The tidal stream can run at up to 4 kN in the narrower parts of the river.
The lock into the marina is open HW La Rochelle for about 1/2hr to 1 1/2hrs, depending on the tidal height. There is a waiting pontoon in the river.
