Once past the forts guarding the entrance, the estuary opens out and there are several bays, inlets, and marinas. There is the large Kernevel marina laying to port immediately inside the estuary. Enter from the northern end.
On the opposite shore is the small, quieter marina of Port-Louis, adjacent to the attractive little town of the same name.
Further up the river, also on the sta'bd side is the marina at Locmiquelic. Where the river turns to the east is Pen-Mane and on the opposite bank is the entrance to the Avant Port and the city basin.
At the entrance to this is Lorient marina, where there are good, sheltered pontoons just inside, to port. This is a good berth, being close to the city, but still being pleasantly open.
Beyond the entrance to the Avant Port, is the marina at Quai de Rohan. A good sheltered spot, if rather hot in summer.
Anchorages
There is a good anchorage, at neaps, ESE of the breakwater at Locmalo. Another, more open anchorage, is on the west side of the entrance, off Larmor. The Anse de Goerem provides a good anchorage in easterlies.
