There are two large marinas here; Marina Cala Galeria and Porto Vecchio, which is the old port of Ercole. Marina Cala Galeria lies north of the promontory by the village of Grotte, and Porto Vecchio to the south, by the centre of Porto Ercole.
It is popular with boat owners from Rome and so can get very crowded. Shelter in the Marina Cala Galeria is very good. Porto Vecchio can be subject to some surge in strong southerlies.
Anchoring:
There is plenty of space and good holding in sand in the bay. Italian law stipulates that all anchoring should be no less than 300 m from the shore.
