Description:
Portoferraio is the main port on Elba and is situated on the northern side of the island. The bay is protected by the peninsula Punta Falcone and the port lies on the western side. The old harbor houses a marina.
Entrance notes or cautions:
If approaching from the west take note of the shoal extending out from Capo Bianco (marked with a N cardinal). Strong southerly winds can make entering this harbour difficult and entry after dark should be avoided.

There is a sheltered marina here on the western side of the harbor – visitors berth on the first pontoon inside the entrance. It is also possible to berth alongside the harbor wall in the port, which also has water and electricity.
There is plenty of room in the anchorage to the south of Portoferraio harbor.
