Description:
Taranto lies in the northeastern corner of the Gulf of Taranto. It is a large commercial port and an important Naval Base. It is an ancient city and has some interesting archaeological sites, some dating from the 6th century. The Città Vecchia (Old Town) is definitely worth visiting.

Docking
Take care to avoid the prohibited Naval areas.
The yacht moorings are at the north end of this large harbour at Porto Mercantile. There are two marinas based here. There may also be a berth at Lega Naval on the eastern side of the harbour.
