Care needs to be taken approaching the marinas in this bay due to a large number of unlit mooring buoys. Also, beware of the mussel beds.
Take care to keep clear of the military installations if berthing at the Flavio Gioia marina.
An alternative berth is a marina at Formia, about 3NM north-east across the bay from Gaeta.
There is an anchorage in the bay just north of the fishing boat pier.
