Messina - Docking

May 24, 2017

The entrance to the marina is to sta'bd just before the main entrance to the port.

It is essential to contact Messina Marina on VHF before entering.

This port is popular with cruise ships and marina berths do suffer from the wash/surge caused by their props. Tie your boat up with care.

Good passage port, but not for winter layup.

Anchoring

Note that no anchoring is permitted in the Strait of Messina. If anchoring in case of emergency, be sure to report where you drop the hook to avoid large fines. Read the VTS Messina Strait User Manual for more information.
