Catania - Docking

Aug 21, 2023

Porto di Catania is not well protected from the south. Strong winds from this direction can cause significant swell inside the harbour (Mediterranea Yacht Club is located in the outer harbour).

The inner harbour, called Porto Vecchio, is better protected and is close to the town. There are several yacht clubs who manage the berths here (Club Nautico and Nautico Etneo). These marinas can be noisy, however, with late night music from town.

Porto Nuovo, to the east of Porto Vecchio, houses Circolo Nautico NIC (maximum length 15m).

Marina di Riposto, to the north of Catania, is well protected from the south, but is more exposed to the NW.

Caito is well protected from all directions and is north of the harbour. Ognina Porto Ulisse (exposed to the north) is to the south of the town.

There is a new commercial basin to the south of the main harbour at Catania.
