Cagliari - Restrictions

Mar 06, 2025

Description:

Cagliari, located on the southern coast of the island, is the largest port in Sardinia, as well as being the capital of the island. Its ancient castle towers over the city, below which lies the old harbor district, known as the Marina. It is an area of narrow, shabby, but vibrant streets, full of restaurants of all descriptions, from the modest to the expensive.

There is now a direct rail link to the airport.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

This is a port of entry. Because this harbour is "close" to Tunisia, many non-EU yachts with non-EU owners use it to move in and out of the EU to "reset" their VAT clock. See the Noonsite EU page for details. The authorities in Cagliari [Guardia di Finanza] are known to target foreign-flagged yachts and scrutinise paperwork. Make sure you have all your paperwork in correct order (in particular re. VAT) to avoid any problems/detention/fines.

Position:

39° 11.38'N, 09° 6.28'E (harbor entrance)
