Anchoring and Mooring options around Melbourne:

There are a number of anchoring and mooring options around the east side of the bay as you make your way to Melbourne which is at the northern end of Port Philip Bay.  These include Sorrento, Mornington and St. Kilda.

There are a large range of berthing options in and around Melbourne itself,  either at the entrance to the Yarra River at Williamstown or right up the river to the heart of the city at Docklands.  There is also large anchorage area in Hobsons Bay, off Williamstown.

Heading Westward

If you are planning on heading west towards South Australia and ultimately across the Great Australian Bight, there are marinas in Apollo Bay and Portland on the Victorian coast and also at Robe in South Australia.  However, it is wise to call ahead in advance to ensure that there is space available.
