Docking
There is a friendly marina here with both slips and moorings available. It is a popular place to leave your boat as rates are reasonable and it’s an easy commute to both Sydney and Brisbane by rail, flight or road.
The marina is walking distance from town, however, the Gladstone Port Authority Corporation provide a courtesy bus from the marina to Gladstone Square for shopping. You will need to take a taxi back.
Anchoring is only permitted among the islands north of the river, about 2 miles from the marina. Just be aware that in any months other than winter, there are abundant midges at dusk and dawn.
The air can be a little dusty here from all the coal loading in the adjacent port.
Be aware that Gladstone is in the cyclone belt.
