Clearance
For full details of Clearance into Australia, see the Australia Formalities page.
Australian Border Force and Department of Agriculture carry out customs, immigration and biosecurity clearance formalities here.
On entering Cairns Shipping Channel, Cairns Harbour Control should be contacted on VHF Channel 16 to give an ETA. Yachts are normally told to go to the Marlin Marina.
Cruisers reported that clearance at Marlin Marina was efficient (less than 30 minutes after arrival), quick (everything complete in less than 2 hours) friendly and helpful.

Docking
The Marlin marina has, in the last few years, been rebuilt and extended and provides excellent facilities. It is part of the new waterfront development known as City port.
The Port also manages 65 pile moorings for vessels up to 18 metres in length on the eastern side of Trinity Inlet. In addition, there are areas designated for anchorages adjacent to these piles, as well as off the eastern end of Admiralty Island.
For information on buying duty-free fuel, see comment at bottom of the page.
