Tanjung Pinang (Bintan Island, Riau Islands) - Clearance

The most straightforward place to complete both inward and outward clearance is at the Bandar Bintan Telani Ferry Terminal on the north coast of Bintan, now called Bintan Resorts Marina.   However, there is an agent fee here for clearance.

Contact Mr Machsun via email at the Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal  At least 12 hours notice is requested preferably by email.  It is also advisable to arrive during daylight hours to avoid overtime charges.  For more information on procedures and fees, please refer to the Bintan Resorts Marina Guide.

Bintan Resorts has installed marina pontoons, suitable for private yachts up to 25 meters and draft of up to three meters.   There are a total of 14 berths at this facility. Boats with a draft of more than 3.5 meters can anchor off and come ashore for CIQP clearance.

See the Formalities section for full details on the requirements for clearing into or out of Indonesia.

Note:  Cruisers have reported to Noonsite about being turned away when trying to clear in/out at the port of Tanjungpinang so it may be wise to consider alternative options, such as the Marina or even Belitung.  (Noonsite is endeavouring to independently verify the current situation).

Previous reports from 2017 (see this report) indicate a less than easy process at Tanjungpinang.

    Data Entry3 says:

Tanjung Pinang is a filthy harbour, the worst we saw in Indonesia. Rubbish was floating by everywhere and we had to clear the prop of our dinghy several times.

There is an updated document for the Bintan Resorts Marina: https://bintan-resorts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/bintan-resorts-marina-2018.pdf

We did not find the resort friendly nor anxious for business. A boat with us inquired about a berth and was told they were “full”, despite only having 3 out of 14 docks occupied all night.
