Maumere - Docking
Much of the bay is deep (40m+) but there is shallower water closer to the concrete dock and the water shoals in steps.
Anchorages
There is a good anchorage just west of the ship dock in about 10m. It is open to the south and can get very rolly/uncomfortable.
An alternative, is an anchorage off the Sea World Resort, about 6 nm east of Maumere. Depths are 10 to 20m. Holding is suspect but just off the river mouth is good. Plenty of chains is advisable as is giving other vessels plenty of room.
Hazards
A large set of rocks is visible during the daytime at S 08 37.915 E 122 18.643 but invisible at night.
The bay is subject to high land breezes. Yachts have reported 25- 30-knot winds and 1.5 to 2m seas. Insect repellent is advisable because of insects/flies.
Ashore
Starting at the resort and heading west there is continuous development, including a big public market and a nice grocery/general store. Regular buses, minibuses and bemos run into town and you can also hire a car and driver. There is a dive shop at the resort which will also arrange tours of local attractions.

Solar (Diesel), gas, water and laundry services are available.
Radio
VHF Channel 16 is the local channel and is heavily used most of the day and night.

Nice anchorage in front of the sea world resort. The resort is friendly to yachts. They will watch your dingy all day. Local man, Jimmy, can provide reasonably priced diesel and gasoline. Also, he offers water, fruits, vegetables and garbage disposal.
