Stornoway is the capital and largest town in the Western Isles (Outer Hebrides), located 30 miles off the NW coast of Scotland. It is an established port of call on the cruise circuit on the sheltered, eastern side of the island of Lewis and a ferry service provides a vital link to mainland Britain.
The entrance to Stornoway Harbour is dominated by Arnish Point Lighthouse. The approaches are well marked with leading lights. and yachts should have no difficulty in making a safe entrance.
Several shoal patches are marked with unlit framework towers or beacons.
All arrivals must call on VHF Channel 12 before entering the harbour.
Stornoway is the gateway to the beautiful Outer Hebrides and also provides an opportunity to explore the unique heritage of Lewis. There are two marinas here with access to repair and haulout facilities.
See the Stornoway Port Authority Marina Handbook for detailed port information.
