Ria de Muros - Provisions & Laundry

Select your download option below

Muros – The marina office is in an old converted house (blue building) with a small kitchen/laundry room.

Portosin – The Real Club Nautico has a self-service laundry and there are professional services in Noia.

There is a well-stocked Gadis supermarket in Muros (N of the town) and numerous grocery stores. The fresh produce market (Mercado de Abastos) should not be missed and there is a fish market on the quay.

Portosin has a good supermarket and fresh produce market on Saturdays. Noia is a much larger town with all kinds of amenities and shops and is just a short bus ride from Portosin.

Esteiro has a number of shops but Freixo is very small and not a place for provisioning.

Marina Muros: we have arrived from Baiona on our trip started from Venice in 2015, calling before the arrival by channel 9. Direct and clear in telling us where to moor our 43 sailing boats.

Pedro, the manager of the marina, was waiting for us at the pontoon, very professional and very nice people as well. The harbour is secure and protected from all weather I would say, the pontoons are clean, well organized. The same in the office of the marina, nice and welcoming. The small town of Muros is very nice, there are a lot of interesting places to visit around. … food excellent !! Paolo

Muro’s north anchorage had very poor holding for us. A much better spot is just NE of town at Abelleira, navigating through the mussel farms.

Lovely beach surrounded by forest with spacious anchorage and excellent holding in muddy sand. Good shelter from W to NE.

Look out for lobster pots when approaching this Ria from the North.

Marina Muros: Excellent staff, please make sure you call on Channel 9 when approaching the marina,(they don’t understand why people don’t) or you may be asked to move from your berth. They will tell you it’s ok to come in and will direct you and take your lines for you- great service. Cruising Association Discount too! Speaks English, French, Spanish and maybe more!

Water, electricity on pontoons. Ladies showers are like entering your own bathroom. Clean and tidy but no hand dryer or paper towels.

Rubbish bins at gate entrance and lots of recycling around the marina which is for general use.
We also anchored in the bay opposite Muros marina and brought up a fishing net and plastic bags on our anchor. Beware of detritus in this anchorage.

Marina Muros is part of a Galician network of marinas, which offers 15% discount to members (€5 for two years). Great service, decent facilities. Laundry & drying €5. Also, the marina offers discounts after four days (20%) and for low and mid-season.

We stayed here after various reports of foul anchoring in the harbour area. We also anchored at San Fransisco beach, near Louro. It is possible to hike to Muros from there (1h) over the hill (not along the busy road). A hike to the lighthouse and west-facing beach of Louro is also recommended.

Good bus service from Muros to Finisterre, Noia and Santiago de Compostela (1h45min, €13 return).

Marina Muros is excellent with a welcoming staff. Well protected. And the town is much more interesting than Portosin.
