Description:

This small island, with its small satellite island of Espalmador, lies just south of Ibiza. With the introduction of a ferry service, the amount of tourism here has increased in the last few years.

By day, in high season, marine traffic is abundant with day sailors, jet skis, tourist boats and speed boats. Very few are concerned about the size of their wake. However, by night, once all the day-trippers have departed, it’s an incredible spot.

The colour of the water and beautiful white beaches make this an island not to miss.

Position:

38° 44’06″N, 01° 25’11″E. (harbour entrance)

We anchored a night at Cala Sabina, which was crowded in June and very busy with traffic. Lots of ferry wash.

Cala Saona not far south of it was much better. Still crowded, but less traffic and no ferries. Same beautifully clear turquoise water.

S’Espalmador buoys are not bookable over the web or CBBASEA app (shows no availability). If there are any free buoys then just take one. They will come and collect the fee. Anchoring is not allowed even when the boys are all taken (info on their web and app is outdated).

    Lovely place!

Costs for Posidina buoys – Espalmador
    29.10E / night from 1st June.
Buoys in place during last week in May. We used them with no charge. Bookable, but no need this early in the season. Lovely spot.

    Calo de s’Oli
    29.10E / night from 1st June.
Buoys in place last week in May. Bookable but no need this early. Closest to Puerto Sabina, Formentera but a little exposed. Better to anchor off beach to north of Port.

    Formentera – Puerto Sabina
This is a very busy place indeed with ferry’s coming and going from Ibiza. A great deal of movement in the port. We will find time to visit and explore the island a little more. There are supermarkets and a chandlers here.

    Marina Formentera
51E May exc. water & electricity.
Closest to the action and in the busiest part of the port.

    Formentera Mar
37E (May) 85E (June) exc. port taxes, water and electricity.
Much better location as more sheltered from the activity in the port.
