Gouvia (Corfu) - Docking

Select your download option below

Gouvia Marina is located in the SE corner of the closed bay of Gouvia (Ormos Gouvion). The marina is the only mooring option here as anchoring is prohibited in the bay.

Gouvia Marina is surrounded by a developed tourist area full of restaurants, bars and hotels within walking distance of the two entrances. The centre of Corfu town is about seven kms (4.3 miles) away with regular bus service on the main road.

Moor stern/bows-to where directed by the berthing master and report to the office. Normally you will be met on arrival by a RIB and guided to your berth. Moorings are connected to the quay and a yacht’s own anchor should not be used. In places where this is missing (as some of them are!), moor in the usual Mediterranean fashion. See marina website for current price list.

Shelter varies according to position within the marina. Berths on the west side and those to the east of the central pier are less comfortable in strong north-easterlies.

Anchoring

It is possible to anchor in Ormos Kammeno, just to the north of the harbor, in about 5-12 meters in mud and weed. It is sheltered in all winds except from the SE, but it is advisable to take a long line ashore if possible.

As of April 2019 you can now clear into Greece easily at the marina. You pay the DEKPA fee to the marina office when you check in the boat. They give you a receipt that you take to the Port Police (office near marina office). They look at ships papers and passports and issue DEKPA. Very easy.

The new cruising tax coming in May can be paid online via bank transfer.

Tried to Clear Into Gouvia, they would not take us as we were a foreign flagged boat that was coming from Montenegro.

We were sent to the Commercial Dock near the old fort and were not welcomed by an official (who was useless at line-handling) he was concerned about the ferries and other commercial vessels who use the port.

Main officials were excellent however I would recommend other similar (Non-EU) vessels anchor in the bay below the Citadel and walk/bike or taxi back to complete formalities.

Gouvia is one of the friendliest sailboat spots anywhere in Greece. The Volvo engineer is incredibly responsive and capable as were all the service providers we used this summer.
