Milos - Docking

May 05, 2022

The port of Adamantas is in the NE corner of the deep bay, Ormos Miliou, on the northern coast of the island.

With a strong Meltemi blowing, the seas at the approach to the bay can be nasty.

The harbor is tucked up inside the bay on its NE side. The Eastern pier leading off the town quay has been extended with a floating pontoon to allow more space for visiting yachts. Try both the SW side of the pier and pontoon extension first for docking space (the Eastern side of this pier is used by fishing boats and day tripper boats). Some spots have laid moorings.

If no space can be found, there may be spots free on the north town quay, between the two piers, or to the west of the ferry pier. There are about 60 berths in total here, with water and electricity at or near every berth.  Free WiFi is also available.

Good shelter even in a Meltemi, but it is advisable to moor several metres out due to the chaos caused by the twice-daily arrival of the ferry.

In a strong southerly wind, one of the anchorages close in on the western side of the bay would be better. Holding is patchy with a bottom of mud, rocks and weed.

The two off-lying islands of Kimolos and Poliagos provide several good anchorages.
