Iraklion - Docking

Nov 27, 2022

The old Venetian marina is nice but always full with local boats and fishing boats.

There is, however, space for several boats in six meters on the town quay at the entrance to the marina.  It is advisable to call the port authorities to check first.

Mooring rings are missing and help is required to tie up.

Note that the quay is high with limited bollards and it can be difficult to get ashore. Most yachts use their dinghies to go ashore via the inner harbor. Water and electricity available are available from the port police station opposite the quay.

This quay is not really tenable in easterly winds above 15 knots and there is nowhere to anchor behind the breakwater.

Weather forecast (in English) on VHF Channel 83 at 06:00/10:00/16:00/22:00 UTC.
