Miami - Clearance

Jun 18, 2024

This is a Port of Entry.

See USA Formalities for full details on clearing into and out of the USA.

Miami is a popular landing point for yachts arriving from foreign ports; however, due to the fact that the Miami Seaport is incredibly busy at almost all hours, arriving yachtsmen may want to opt for a more quiet Port of Entry. Be aware that yachts arriving from abroad must make contact with the US Customs and Border Protection office immediately upon landing and may not disembark before receiving instructions from the CBP.

Miami Beach is not typically a Port of Entry; however, some marinas offer clearance assistance as part of a concierge service. Check with the individual marinas prior to arrival.

If arriving directly from Cuba, be aware that you may be refused any Licence (or have an existing one canceled). US nationals (whether on a foreign or US registered yacht) should ensure that they comply with US Licensing Procedures for their citizens who visit Cuba. See this Noonsite Report on visiting Cuba.
