Leros - Docking

With the Meltemi, there are strong gusts off the high land in the approaches to Ormos Lakki as well as a confused sea.

The Port of Lakki (Porto Lago) is now very well protected by a new seawall.

Marinas

There are two marinas here, on each side at the head of the Lakki Bay and both are close to the town.

Leros Marina is well sheltered and is to starboard as you enter (37° 07.7’N, 26° 51.4’E) and Lakki Marina is to port (37° 07.8’N, 26° 50.9’E).

Anchorages

Some boats anchor in the basin between Lakki and Leros marinas and the seaside of the commercial dock.

Good shelter can be found in the anchorage at Lepida on the eastern side of the bay, just north of the naval base.

On the eastern side of the island, (across from Lakki Bay) at Pandeli Bay is a good sheltered harbor as well as an anchorage – good holding in six – seven meters (19 – 22 ft).

The anchorage at Partheni, on the northern tip of the island, in the bay to the east by the village, is well sheltered. There is a boatyard here run by Agmar Marine, with a travel lift, which makes this bay not as tranquil as it once was. This yard is conveniently located next to the airstrip.

Xirokampos, at the southern end of the island, also provides good shelter. Mooring buoys have been removed so only anchoring is now possible. Take care with the remaining concrete blocks and lines if you anchor. No provisioning available.

    Agmar Marina Partheni Boatyard.
On the hard winterizing good and cheap (about 2.5k Euros for 7 months for 46ft sailboat), compared with other solutions in this part of Med.

Very professional maintenance & refitting capability, all sectors, even if not cheap at all, sometimes ridiculously exaggerate. Anyhow good output, even if at a price. Attilio Siviero, Sisila ketch

Xirokampos: There are three places to eat ashore, two along the beachfront and one inland. There are no grocery stores, mini stores, or bread stores within the town so come prepared.

Each of the two beachfront restaurants have laid colored moorings. It appears that if you use their mooring, they expect you to eat at their restaurant probably at least once every two day-stay.

It appears to us that the restaurant on the east side is more reasonably priced than the restaurant on the west side, which has more upscale beach furnishings and a shower on the beach to rinse off.

Port Police monitors Ch12 but was never able to get them to answer. Lakki uses lazy lines which they give to you after mooring because they have no helper boat. IF NECESSARY, one can drop your anchor seaside of a yellow buoy they have placed.

They do not give you this option unless you ask. Wall anchorage was full. The big empty space around the sole shore power pod is reserved for Greek Coast Guard. Marked, but hard to see from the sea.

Orange mooring buoy is in water in line with the pod. Other boats anchor in the basin between Lakki and Leros marina, and seaside of the commercial dock.

At Lakki, water was 8€ a ton and 10€ for 16 Kw (2016). Lakki recently renovated the office and the bathrooms (2015) but the floating pontoons their published plan wrote about are not installed.
