Serifos - Docking

May 05, 2022

The port of Livadhi is at the head of a bay on the SE corner of the island. Take great care if the Meltemi is blowing as there can be very strong gusts off the south coast and in the approaches to the port.

A new harbor has been built here with solid concrete piers and lazy lines (not all in good condition) and good all-around protection. Note however that the floating pontoon does not have fixed lazy lines and is best avoided.

Boats that have used their own anchors here have reported foul ground and expensive fees charged for freeing the anchor. Consequently, many boats choose to go alongside due to lack of lazy lines, taking up more dock space.

There is currently no working electricity, but there is water on the docks. On the old pier, which is part of the newly built harbour, a waterman comes around to dispense water and a few of the electrical outlets are still activated.

Yachts can also anchor in the bay outside the buoyed swimming area, although holding is patchy in sand and weed (a second anchor is recommended). Use plenty of chains. Anchoring should not be attempted in strong southerlies.

The town has plenty of small supermarkets and a Carrefour opposite the harbor. Showers (€4) are available in the building next to the Alpha Bank.

Currently, there is no management for the harbor and no fees.

There are some coffee shops, restaurants with free WiFi and a bank with ATM. There is a sandy beach at the end of the bay.
