Ormos Koutala, 38°08.0’N, 24°27.5’E, provides a quieter alternative when the southerlies permit.

Serifos should not be missed when cruising the Cyclades, Livadhi is pleasant and the Chora spectacular. In the past the short jetty made it crowded and anchoring in the bay is uncertain because of weeds, and impossible in strong southerlies.

This past winter a new harbour has been built with solid concrete piers and lazy lines making it safe in virtually all conditions. Electricity and water are being installed in the new harbour and should be working soon.

Plenty of small supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants both with free wifi, bank/atm. A sandy beach at the end of the bay. No idea what the charges are going to be, for the 2 days we were here no one came to collect mooring fees and the port police keep well hidden.

On the old pier, a waterman come around to dispense water and a few of the electrical outlets are still activated. There is frequent 1.70 euro bus service to the Chora, about a 5 kilometer walk uphill, likewise downhill, but a walking path cuts the distance to about 3 KM
