Selection and availability in Agios Nikolaos is limited. There are several chandlers in town and a small chandlery close to the marina (next to the stadium) with a limited range of boat equipment. Due to the Greek economic climate, however, chandlers are reluctant to hold large stocks of items. They will order, but a three to five day delay may be expected.
There is a larger chandler in Elounda, off Spinalonga Lagoon, seven kms (4.3 miles) away, over quite high hills. There are buses.
There are hardware shops, paint suppliers, and a wood yard that stocks teak, iroko, and other hardwoods, together with a huge selection of stainless steel products and fastenings.
