Southwest Harbor (Mount Desert Island) - Docking

Mar 17, 2015

The harbor is sheltered except in strong easterly or southeasterly winds when better shelter can be found in Somes Sound. There is a marina as well as moorings here.

There is an anchorage midway between Greening Island and the southern shore in depths of 34 to 50 feet. Smaller vessels can anchor farther in the harbor.

Somes Sound also provides 10nm of water with many sheltered anchorages.
