Where is Huelva?
Huelva is in southern Spain in Andalucia, near the border of Portugal. The town sits between the estuaries of the Odiel and Tinto rivers in the Gulf of Cadiz.
The port of Mazagon is located at the mouth of the estuary and the city of Huelva lies approx. 10 miles inland.
Huelva lies in between Faro and Seville airports (both 1.5 hours away).
Entrance Notes and Cautions
The tide runs strongly in the Ria de Huelva.
There is considerable fishing and commercial traffic, both day and night.
Wind against tide in the river produced notable waves which may make outer marina berths uncomfortable.

About 10 miles upstream from Mazagon there is a brand new marina: Marina del Odiel.
I can highly recommend Marina del Odiel. A telephone request for a berth is answered immediately and within a few seconds we have a box number via WhatsApp. On arrival there are no less than two Marineros ready to receive us. The handling at check-in is very smooth and friendly and they are also very helpful with a larger plug for the shore power, without extra costs.
The port is located directly next to the center of Huelva and large supermarkets, such as Lidl, are also within walking distance.
There is a direct train connection to Seville and in about 1h45 you are at the station there.
Because we wanted to stay a bit longer in Seville in the evening, and the last train leaves at 20:50, we rented a car from Gobycar with which we drove back to the port at night and back to Seville the next day.
We enjoyed our stay at Marina Del Odiel and the hospitality of the harbor masters. The prices are also attractive, especially in the low season which runs until June.
