Chipiona - Docking

Jul 23, 2018

The shelter is good in the modern marina but the swell enters in NW gales. It is on the southern bank of the Rio Guadalquivir at its mouth and is an ideal port of call for boats intending to sail up the river, as well as those returning downstream heading for the open sea.

The marina entrance is dredged periodically, however, deep draft boats should check current depths with the marina office prior to entering. The visitor's basin is dredged to 4m.

New arrivals should tie up to the long reception pontoon at the tip of the central mole, under the marina office. Visitors are usually directed to the northeast basin which is close to town and has berthing on finger pontoons.

In high season the marina is often full, so be sure to contact the marina office in advance to make a reservation. Smaller yachts may be lucky and find space in the southern basin where the local's moor (2.5-3m depth).

It is possible to anchor to the east of the marina entrance, however, this is open to NW winds.
