There are some good choices up to the hill from the Darsena in the old town or on Rua Franja, west of Plaza Maria Pita.

  • Pulpo a Feira (Galician Octopus dish> Empanada (Galician Pie with various fillings) and of course a glass of Albarino white wine.

- O Paladar is one of the many similar restaurants on Calle da Franxa that serve a multitude of local tapas dishes and seafood

- Noray (under the arches of Plaza de Maria Pita) specialises in freshly caught cod and lobster with ice. - Casa Vasca on Plaza de Maria Pita - Basque restaurant offering one of the most extensive wine lists in the city with more than 200 varieties available and a signature dish of hake stuffed with crab

- O Tizon on Calle de Arenal is about a 20-minute walk from the marina. Aware winning stuffed mussels with are grown on the granite rocks on the wave-battered Atlantic coast.

- La Rioja Meson, the first bar on Rua Rego de Auga, serves almost pint-sized gin and tonics.
