Garrucha - Fees

Garrucha is located in the province of Almeria, Andalusia, to the south of Cartagena, lying between Carboneras and Aguilas.

Whilst conditions in this port for yachts can be challenging, it's a useful stopover to know about for repairs or emergencies.

Until the 19th century, it was a town bedevilled by raiding Berber pirates forcing those they caught into a life of slavery. That changed with the discovery of locally mined silver and thus Garrucha became a thriving port, so important that a number of foreign consulates were established there.

Now it is fishing (mainly for prawns) and tourism which are the mainstay of the town. It has a fine boardwalk running next to the beach and an 18th-century castle.
