Docking in Barcelona City Centre

The Port of Barcelona is divided into three zones: Port Vell (the Old Port) in the NE of the port, the commercial/industrial port and the logistics port (Barcelona Free Port).

Port Vell

Port Vell was built as part of an urban renewal program prior to the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Before this, it was a run-down area of empty warehouses and factories.

Within Port Vell are two marinas, a fishing port and a ferry and cruise ship port. In the central area, it also houses "Maremagnum" (a shopping mall and nightlife complex with Europe's largest aquarium). Because it is located in a designated tourist zone, the Maremagnum is the only commercial mall in the city that can open on Sundays and public holidays. Next to the Maremagnum area are the "Golondrinas", small ships that take tourists for a visit around the port area and beyond.

The 2 marinas here are in the heart of the City and are accessed via a lifting pedestrian bridge which opens every 30 minutes between 0800 and 2000. Best to time your arrival for the opening:

OneOcean Port Vell

Previously known as Marina Port Vell, this is now mainly a superyacht marina with prices to match. Has a boatyard with a 50/150 ton travelift and yacht repairs.

Real Club Maritimo de Barcelona

This is a full-service marina in the middle of the city at the bottom of Las Ramblas. It is an active local yacht club, but welcomes visiting yachts. Floating pontoons and fingers, 20ton crane with hard standing and repair facilities.

South of Port Vell

Marina Vela

This is a relatively new marina in the Boca Nord basin at the north entrance to Barcelona harbour (near the W hotel), with 136 berths (15-50m LOA).

City Centre North

There are two additional marinas in central Barcelona to the north of Port Vell:

Puerto Olimpico

This marina is sited in the northern part of the city in the heart of an established waterfront area with high walls, so is well protected from wind and swell. It has over 100 visitors' berths. It was taken over by the City Council in 2020 and berth prices are reported to have increased.

Puerto Forum

This is a motor boat and superyacht marina, 3 miles NE of Puerto Olimpico.

Docking Outside Barcelona

All marinas operate on VHF Ch. 09. This is just a selection of some of the closest marinas to the city, there are many more.

Badalona Marina

One mile north of Puerto Forum, 620 berths, laid moorings, max. LOA 30m. Full service marina with fuel berth and 75 ton travelift. Popular choice for many cruisers for winter haulout.

Puerto Premia de Mar and Puerto Deportivo Masnou

Both marinas have over 100 berths and are approximately 12 NM North West of the city centre.

Port Ginesta and Port Garraf

Both marinas are located approx. 14 NM to the SE of the city centre.
