There is an excellent market that operates every day, but mainly in the mornings. The Milimewa Supermarket is on the waterfront opposite the market. There is also a smaller Chinese supermarket and many small shops selling a good variety of wares in the main street.
The markets near the “new” town common on Tuesday night provide a range of local food and are worth a visit. The short walk or bike ride into town is well worth it for the variety and price of food. Taxi service is available but not necessary unless picking up supplies.
