Where is Kudat?

Kudat is located on the upper north of the Malaysian state of Sabah.  Known as the Tip of Borneo, it is the administrative centre of Kudat District which is populated mostly by Rungus people. In the 19th Century Kudat was a thriving port and trading post. It is located approximately 190 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu (KK).

Cruiser Highlights for Kudat:

Kudat is one of the few places in Malaysian Borneo where one can get hauled (see boatyards). It is a port of entry with friendly, efficient officials.

The small city is a friendly place with dozens of small restaurants and seemingly almost as many small Chinese run hardware stores. The nearby golf club is extremely cruiser friendly and cruisers recommend it as a great place to eat within walking distance of the boatyard.

Position:

06° 53.37'N, 116° 51.57'E (harbour entrance)
