Description:
This is the most easterly of the Northern Sporades islands. The southern half is rugged and wooded but the northern half is more cultivated. Burial place of the poet, Rupert Brooke.
The main port is Linaria, midway down the south-west coast.
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
The ferry from the mainland arrives in Linaria at approx. 1900 most days and is a major event. The port area becomes busy for 10 to 15 minutes before and after the ferry docks. A bus meets the ferry for transport into the main Chora.
