Near the harbour, Sandra from Hiva Ova Yacht Services can order fresh provisions.
The fuel station has a good selection of products, including fresh baguettes in the morning, fresh eggs, UHT milk, frozen products, some fresh fruit and vegetables (plus New Zealand butter in a tin).
Fresh fruit may also be available from local gardens if you ask.
There are two supermarkets in Atuona with a reasonably good selection of fresh food, some fruit, and vegetables, wine and beer, frozen meats. Fresh bread (baguettes), as well as croissants and other pastries, are on sale at various supermarkets every morning.
In the small square opposite Magasin Gauguin, a local woman sells most mornings fresh produce from the back of her truck: tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers.
Next to Magasin Gauguin is a very well stocked tools and hardware store which also sells fishing gear, lures, etc.
It is best to time your shopping for the few hours after the supply ship docks.
Contact Sandra from Hiva Ova Yacht Services who will pick-up and return to the dock.
