Description:

This group of west coast islands is the part of the archipelago spanning the border between the U.S A. and Canada. On the Canadian side of the border, they are called The Gulf Islands.

The principal islands in this group are Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island. There are many other smaller islands and a large number of uninhabited islets.

Friday Harbor lies on the east coast of San Juan Island, while Roche Harbor is on the northwest coast.
