Seward - Activities, Attractions & Shopping

Nov 25, 2015

The Kenai Fjords National Park has a visitors centre in Seward and much of the surrounding area is protected as part of the national park.  Resurrection Bay has several sea lion haulouts and there are also rookeries nearby at the Chiswell islands.  Contact the park service for advice on approaching the sea Lion rookeries.

The surrounding cliffs are home to Puffins, Mures, and Auklets, and other cliff dwelling seabirds.  The Bay and the surrounding waters are also home to several species of marine mammals, including harbor seals, Northern Sea otters and several species of whales.

South of Seward is Aialik bay which has the Aialik Glacier calving at its head. It offers several nice anchorages as well.

College Fjords is also a wonderful place with glaciers calving into the ocean and seals hauled out on the ice.
