Dockage and full-service marinas are relatively sparse in this area, many situated in small towns. These marinas, though, are still professionally staffed and good quality.
Anchorages are plentiful along the ICW on the inside of the Matagorda Peninsula, a barrier island. In subsequent large bays to the west – for example, in Espiritu Santo Bay – it is possible to anchor anywhere outside the ICW or marked channels. Consult the most recent charts.
There are numerous anchorages in the area near Port Lavaca and across the bay south of Point Comfort.
