West Palm Beach - Docking

Nov 01, 2016

There are several marinas here.

North Palm Beach marina is friendly to cruisers and will refill water jerry cans.

There are many spots for anchoring here, but abide by all signs and posted warnings. In the very north part of the Lake Worth Lagoon, the area just south of Peanut Island, and through the bridge in front of West Palm Beach downtown area.

Lake Worth tends to be the most popular anchorage, so it can get crowded and the current can be very strong. Anchoring south of Flagler Bridge on the east side provides more room for swinging.

Flagler Memorial Bridge has been under construction for some time now and construction barges, tugs, and service vessels operate in the area. This is between Flagler Bridge and Royal Park Bridge is the busiest in the area and is also the location of the Palm Harbor Marina, one of the most famous megayacht marinas on the Floridian seaboard. Each spring they host the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

There are free docks for brief visits and dinghies – closed from midnight to 5 am – and a free trolley system.

This anchorage is convenient to grocery stores and other shopping, restaurants and a West Marine supplies store. There is also a good library here.
