Description:
Venice sits at a break in the long chain of barrier islands which run as far north as Tarpon Springs and as far south as Fort Myers. There is no outer protective island at Venice so the inlet approach is straightforward and the gulf is not far from any marina.
The Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) cuts inland and separates Venice from the rest of mainland Florida. The area is primarily residential but a number of marinas and peaceful anchorages can be found.
