Panama City - Local Customs

Sep 01, 2018

Description:

The Panama City area is a major vacation destination for residents of the southeast United States. This area will occasionally experience an influx of tourism and brief periods of higher-than-usual crowds.

Coming from the south, it will be the first major city since Tampa Bay and it serves as a good location for inland travel.

Panama City sits on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and can be approached from either the east or the west, but many cruisers may approach from the seaward inlet, St. Andrews Inlet.

To be precise, Panama City and Panama City Beach are two separate cities. Panama City is more inland, whilst Panama City Beach is much nearer to the coast. Panama City proper is usually quieter, and PCB is more geared to vacationing and tourism.

Position:

30° 06.65'N, 85° 44.52'W (entrance to St Andrews Inlet)
