Description:
Like many areas in Florida, there are two separate towns known by the same name: Bradenton and Bradenton Beach are located between Tampa Bay and Sarasota on Anna Maria Island in Manatee County, Florida. Most yachting services are located on the protected Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). While Bradenton Beach proper is located on the barrier island to the west, to the east of this, a number of viable facilities for larger yachts can be found in neighboring Cortez, FL.
A few miles up the Manatee River is a number of significant marinas, most of which are liveaboard-friendly: a rarity in this area of Florida. The cities of Palmetto and Bradenton have notable yachting facilities close to a large downtown area.
