Description:
Norfolk lies on the southern shore of the James River, close to the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay.
As well as being an old seaport, it is one of the East Coast’s busiest international commercial ports. Its neighbouring city of Portsmouth houses one of the US Navy’s major shipyards. The city also forms a key way station on the Intracoastal Waterway.
