Chesapeake Bay - Bio Security

May 27, 2019

Description:

This is a wonderful cruising area and is extensively supplied with marinas. This bay is one of the largest estuaries in North America, with a shoreline stretching over 3200 kms (2000 miles) and fed by some 150 rivers. Most of the Bay is fairly shallow and a draft of more than 7ft could limit the cruising area and the harbors it is possible to visit.

Many of America's oldest historic sites and cities are within reach when cruising here. Annapolis is the main sailing center, but Baltimore, Williamsburg, York Town, Hampton (VA) and Norfolk are just some of the attractive destinations.

Position:

36° 59.55'N, 75° 56.97'W (entrance)
