Description:
The Ria of Corcubion is located in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, tucked just inside Finisterre. It is well worth exploring as you round this notorious Cape for its sheltered anchorages and good holding.
The Ria itself is long and narrow. Corcubion is a busy fishing town on the western shore of the Ria, very pretty, with traditional Galician galleried houses overlooking the pleasant promenade along the seafront. There is an excellent market in the center and good bars and restaurants.
The town of Cee at the head of the Ria can be reached from Corcubion by bicycle, foot, bus or dinghy. It has a very large supermarket in a shopping center, hardware stores, and a much larger fresh produce market.
Cruiser Highlights:
Good protection and holding; several protected anchorages; easy supplies; uncrowded and pretty.
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
Pilotage in this Ria is complex, in particular in bad weather and poor visibility.
Be aware of the headland at Pta Galera where there is a rock awash at low springs, further out than those marked on the chart by approx. 30m.
Position:
42° 54.98'N, 09° 10.50'W (ria entrance)
