A Guarda - Docking

Jan 01, 2014

It is possible to either anchor here (in the northeast corner) or comes alongside the end of the inner mole. Avoid anchoring in the between the fishing boats and the southern wall as it is used as a fairway for small fishing vessels. Depth in any swell here would have to be watched and although this harbour offers good shelter, swelling may block the exit so only enter in calm conditions.

Minimum depth 2m.

The River Minho is navigable up to Tui by shallow-draft vessels, however, the entrance into the river is complicated and sandbanks litter the river, constantly moving. Currents here can be strong, so exploring the river should not be attempted without local knowledge.
