Description:
Calpe (Calp) lies between Denia (to the north) and Benidorm (to the south), 35nm North of the city of Alicante. Principally a tourist resort, it lies at the foot of the Natural Park of Penyal d'Ifac.
The town occupies an area of strategic importance on a route through the mountains and so merited fortification by its various inhabitants, Roman, Moorish and Spanish. There are still traces of old Calpe in the town, and the Old town whilst small is worth a visit.
The marina here is part of the Real Club Nautico de Calpe and is popular all year round. Visitors should call ahead to ensure space is available.
