Ogasawara Islands (Bonin Islands) - Boatyards

Dec 05, 2023

The population of the island is 1500, with no obvious boatyard, however, there are many fishing and tour boats, a slipway and a fisherman's co'op, so no doubt repairs could be made here. Locals are reported to be very friendly and helpful.

If needing assistance with repairs, start with the Coast Guard who will point you in the right direction, or simply ask where to get assistance from a local fisherman or tour operator, many of whom speak English for the tourist trade.

There is a slipway that is set up for the larger commercial

power boats, and no doubt local cranes and or divers could be used should emergency repairs be required.
